Why Choose
DENTAL CROWNS OR ONLAYS?

Restore decayed or damaged teeth with dental crowns or onlays. They improve tooth strength, appearance, durability, versatility, comfort, and ease of care. They are custom-crafted to cover and protect your teeth from further damage. And since they look natural, nobody will know you have them. If you are dealing with damaged teeth or if you want to change the shape of your smile cosmetically, dental crowns or onlays are an excellent choice to get the healthy smile you deserve.

Benefits of Dental Crowns
and Onlays

Strengthen Damaged Teeth

Dental crowns are protective covers that protect or “cap” damaged or decayed teeth. This strengthens your teeth and guards your tooth against bacteria and further decay. Similarly, onlays (which some commonly refer to as "partial crowns") are porcelain restorations that cover a portion of the tooth and may require less removal of tooth structure. Dr. Lee will determine the most appropriate choice for your particular condition.

Durable & Long-Lasting

Dental crowns last up to 10-15 years with proper maintenance. All you have to do is brush, floss, and go to your regular dental appointments at Imprint Family Dentistry.

The Dental
Crown Process

Consultation

The first step is a consultation with our dentist in Arcadia, Dr. Lee. He will examine the tooth and assess the extent of the damage. Digital X-rays may be taken to determine if the tooth is healthy enough to support a crown or onlay.

Modeling

After the tooth is prepared, our team will take digital models of the tooth and surrounding teeth with our Intraoral scanner. This allows us to create precise models of the tooth used to create your permanent crown or onlay.

Temporary Crown

While your permanent restoration is crafted, Dr. Lee will place a temporary crown over your prepared tooth. Avoid sticky or hard foods during this short period!

Restoration

Once your permanent crown is ready, Dr. Lee will remove the temporary crown and clean your prepared tooth and ensure it’s properly fitted. With your approval, Dr. Lee will then cement it and make any necessary adjustments.

Your final restoration is complete! We will send you home with aftercare instructions for maintaining your new crown or onlay.

01
How do I know if I need a crown, onlay, or bridge?

The need for a crown, onlay, or bridge depends on the specific condition of your teeth and the recommendation of Dr. Lee.

In general, dental crowns are used to restore a single damaged or decayed tooth, whereas bridges are used to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth. In cases where the damage is too much for a filling but not extensive enough to warrant a crown, an onlay may be recommended.

02
How do I care for my dental crown and bridge?

Simply put, stick to the basics! Caring for your dental crown and bridge is the same as your normal oral hygiene routine. But to reiterate, brush and floss regularly, use fluoride toothpaste, avoid hard or sticky foods, wear a night guard if you grind your teeth or play contact sports, and visit Dr. Lee every six months. Following these tips maintains the longevity of your restoration and keeps your teeth and gums healthy! If you have any concerns or questions, give us a call at (626)802-4588
